Happy Birthday, Herr Mozart

Departing from the usual themes of this blog–relationships, travel–we’re honoring Wolfgang Amadè Mozart, who would have been 260 years old yesterday.

Alex Ross’s “The Storm of Style,” which appeared in the The New Yorker July 24, 2006, is a remarkable look at the prodigy, and very well worth the read.


Regardless of your taste in music, it’s difficult not to acknowledge the talent of this formidable composer. It was a challenge to find a snippet of his extraordinary work on Youtube, which features many full-length pieces, but here is a short (eight-minute) clip from Requiem.
